VOLUNTEER
GUIDELINES
We take great steps to provide a safe environment with the best uninterrupted learning experience that we can.
Helpful Tasks
Take a look at some of the ways you can assist in class!
• Keep a helpful eye on student's needs in class. Watch for dangerous situations and advise instructors immediately.
• Guard all exits, do not allow students to leave the facility unless with a parent or guardian.
• Help instructor to keep facility clean and put back into order at the end of class.
• Help with lining up students and preparing them for class or activities.
• Watch the coach or instructors teaching gear and personal belongings.
• Assisting with sports equipment that students use during drills.
YOUR BEHAVIOR MATTERS
We take pride in maintaining the best learning environment for your students and athletes! As a parent volunteer, we expect nothing less from you as well. You are expected to behave in a manner that is always:
SAFE
SECURE
POSITIVE
COURTEOUS
PROFESSIONAL
Volunteer guidelines
Follow these simple guidelines, and you'll do just fine!
Sign in upon arrival
Sign in using the parent helper form upon arrival each week. Please do not bring other children to class (i.e. a younger sister or brother) as you are expected to participate and will not be able to fully supervise their activities.
Participate
Unless you are specifically told you are not needed, then you will be required to assist with the class each week. Parent Helpers are not allowed to sit down and merely observe the class. If we allow this then other parents will view this as unfair.
Be Courteous & Polite
Parent Helpers at no time may discipline students. Please alert the Coach or Instructor to perceived problems accordingly. ALWAYS BE COURTEOUS & POLITE WHEN TALKING WITH STUDENTS & PARENTS. Try to use a calm and reassuring tone of voice while talking to students directly.
Use Positive Reinforcement
Try to get in the habit of using positive reinforcement towards students whenever possible!. (i.e. "Good job, You’re doing very well")
*NEVER PUT A STUDENT DOWN*
Monitor for Distractions
Please be as quiet as possible! Noisy helpers will be asked to wait outside. We ask that you please report any distracting individuals to the coach or instructor if their disruptive behavior insists.
Follow the buddy system
Parent Helpers must always go in pairs when escorting students to bathrooms. If no other parent helpers are available, have the class secretary or advanced student assist you.
Please, do not...
